On the second Wednesday of the month, our club gathers to enjoy a live classical music performance at a local venue such as a church or library, showcasing our own performing members. Our musicians perform as soloists or often collaborate with one another in chamber ensembles. Each program is unique, and the selection of performers on a given day is carefully curated by our programming committee.
In February of 1964, WSMC president Jean Piper hosted the very first Piano Festival. The piano festival continues today and has become an annual tradition. Please see our Piano Festival page for more information.
Who We Are
Founded in 1921, the Western Springs Music Club is a nonprofit organization that strives to bring people together through live classical music performances in our community once a month, September through May. We offer two types of membership: performing or sustaining. Many of our performing members hold professional music degrees and are working musicians performing in various Chicago area symphonic and choral ensembles. Our sustaining members do not perform, however, they fulfill an important role as they attend our monthly programs enthusiastically, are avid lovers of music and they help to arrange our after-concert tea each month.
